Financial woes for OMERS continue Thu Jul 29th, 2010
An indication of how the financial meltdown of 2008 continues to affect the city of Windsor. The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System took a big hit during the financial crisis and at the end of last year had a $1.5 billion dollar shortfall. That's expected to grow to $5-billion dollars over the next four years. As a result the plan is increasing employer and employee contributions by 1 % in each of the next three years. The city's finance department is still working on what that will mean but an early estimate suggests it'll mean another $1.5 to $2 million in expenditures next year. Employees will also have to increase their contributions.
Congratulations Adelle
