| Windsor councilors not happy with generator transportation | Wed Jul 28th, 2010 |
Windsor has added it's voice to the chorus opposed to the shipment of radioactive waste from the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station through the Great Lakes. The Bruce plant is undergoing a multi-billion dollar renovation right now and the province has hired a Swedish firm to recycle what it can from 32 corroded boilers. City council has passed a resolution opposing the shipment. Councillor Percy Hatfield says it just doesn't sound safe. 16 will be shipped through the Great Lakes up the St.Lawrence Seaway and over the Atlantic Ocean this fall. The rest will be shipped at a later date. | |
